Suppose we lost all knowledge of the Constitution

But we had all the accumulated U.S. Law since 1789 and tried to reconstitute the Constitution strictly from all that U.S. Law.

What would that 10-15 page document look like? Would it look like the Constitution or some commie pinko manifesto?

I think it would there would be a certain constituency here pushing for adding words like "God" and "Christian" in there, because they think they have better insight into the the Constitution than the collective work of constitutional scholars. So now Republicans claim God and the Constitution as soley their own and the rest of us are communists. In reality, they are the ones who would push for radical overhauls. Thanks for playing chumps. The constitution is long overdue for a rewrite. All that stuff about due process should be thrown out and in its place should be language to the effect that if it makes for efficient law enforcement, it is ok.

The bit about congress declaring war is out of date and hasn't been followed since WW II at the latest and the fact is that FDR was making war against Hitler well before the declaration of war by the Fuhrer and our tit for tat. MOstly because our isolationist congress was too provincial to see what Hitler's plans were for us and would have waited for the SS to show up before it would have done anything.

God needs to be stuck in some place and it needs to be the three part god of christianity and not the Jewish Solo act of the same name----just so we are clear.

And get rid of that abolition of involuntary servitude nonsense as well----we may need to draft people again and that clutter could be embarassing.

And get rid of the income tax---god forbid we should have the means at hand to pay our bills.
