Super Bowl Ads

Am I wrong when I consider last night's commercials to be absolutely awful? First of all, less than half even attempted to be entertaining. And, those that did, were just not creative and/or funny.

Hell, even the beer commercials sucked. I'm sure there was one I kind of liked, I just can't remember it.

Janet Jackson plus 9/11 have doomed us to weak Super Bowl ads for the immediate future. Not to mention the dozens of next-day critiques in the media. Companies spend so much on each ad they will take absolutely no chance at being skewered in the media for being tasteless (although I guess race is still on the table).

If this keeps up, women and casual fans will stop watching the Super Bowl.

Will Ferrell's Bud Light commercial was funny.

"Refreshes the palate... and the loins."

I agree pretty weak and not very memorable. The few I found to be okay were more wtf after I realized who the ad was for.

I also liked the Will Ferrell Bud Light ad: "Bud Light. Suck one."

The Bud Light ad with the Clydesdale in training was pretty good.

I personally liked the Pepsi one with Justin Timberlake the best. Andy Samberg with a blonde wig and Justin posters everywhere was hilarious, then Justin almost getting hit by Tony Romo. I thought it was funny and clever.

My roommate liked the Coke commercial with the Macy's day parade balloons the best. Although I kind of wanted Underdog to get the coke, but I guess Charlie Brown getting it was cool too.

The worst one was the one where the heart ripped out of the girl's chest and then walked out the door. I can't even remember what that one was for. It was disgusting.

Almost as bad was the Sobe lizards and the black model chick dancing to Thriller. Very creepy. I can't imagine how that commercial could make anyone want to drink Sobe.

I forgot about the Timberlake one, I did like that. And the Doritos one with the guy in the mouse costume was good as well.

I refuse to ever patronize whatever company put that heart ad out, and never, ever use e-trade after that puking kid. I wanted to throw a brick through the TV, and I quickly changed the channel when their next ad came on.
The clydesdale ad was good, and a few others made me laugh, but I was nonplussed in general. The Richard Simmons and the squirrel/raccoon ads for Bridgestone was pretty good.
That foreign guys in the bar for Bud Light was a spot for an agency in Austin, it got some publicity before the game, it was OK-maybe not as good as their spot a year ago, though.

The Bridgestone ad where the driver sees Richard Simmons and then speeds up was funny (at least relative to the others shown last night). I chuckled.

Commercials as whole did suck. My favs were the Jackie Moon Bud Light and the Timberlake commercial. Was I the only one who laughed out loud during that Anti-drug commercial?

PFD, I didn't see the commercial so I'm not going to comment on whether it was racist or not. I will say though that the exaggeration of stereotypes can be interpreted as being racist.

The salesgenie.com ads were lame...but that's what the owner of the company was going for...he wants to be remembered for having the worst ads after last year's SB ad was crowned The Worst by multiple publications.

My personal favorite was the FedEx homing pigeon ad...hilarious.
