Summertime help--anti-sandal stink?

Alright, summer's just about here & I'm looking for products that help cut down on foot odor for sandals. I just washed a pair of Nike sandals w/ rubber footbeds that were pretty ripe from last year. I've also got a pair of Eccos w/ a suede-like footbed that will be kickin' pretty good after a few hot days of walking around.

Anybody come across anything that helps clean sandal bottoms or cut down on the sweaty feet funk?

OK, bleach sounds simple enough. Any ordinary household bleach'll do, I assume? Do I have to worry about it staining/discoloring the footbed?

Add the bleach (yes, household) in a couple of gallons of water. Check the bottle for how much to add, will probably be less than a half cup. Bleach is fairly concentrated now. Yes, bleach can stain but it will really depend on the materials in the sandals.

If it was me, I'd just throw them in with a load of towels in the wash. I do this with my running shoes and have never had a problem.

I normally get half a sink full. Add a little detergent and a couple of splashes of bleach. Scrub them well. Then toss them outside in the sunlight to dry. If you don't allow them to dry completely, the stink comes back pretty quick.

I spray my feet w/ an aerosol deodrant, and use baby powder from time to time.
