Summer Weekend in Keystone, Colorado

I am heading to a wedding in Keystone, CO in July. Looking for tips on places to stay and things to do, all on a budget.
Also, should we rent a car and drive in from the denver airport, or take the airport shuttle (i think it's like $50 each way or something ridiculous) and rely on the local transpo?

FYI, I really want to stay at Keystone Lodge, but it is $152 a night, which ends up being $510 for the 3 nights - a bit too much. Anyone know how I can finagle a cheaper rate?

Been there a few times, but they were on work/golf boondoggles, so I'm no help on a cheap rate. Rent a car, definitely. Fun drive out there, and you'll want to take the road between Keystone and Breckenridge at one point--pretty drive. As far as activities, I didn't do much besides golf, but the Breckenridge Brewing Company is a decent brewpub, and I know there's plenty of hiking, rafting, biking, etc.

Definitely rent a car- you're looking at about a two hour drive from the airport to Keystone

Eat at the Log Cabin Cafe in Frisco for breakfast (Only about ten or fifteen minutes from Keystone). It's cheap. It's right on Main Street. You will not be disappointed.

I'm sure you can book a room in Dillon , Frisco, or Silverthorne for much cheaper. In 2005 we stayed at a Quality Inn for $70 in June. Rates are probably up but I bet you can easily find a room for under $100.

Edit: Reread your post. Sorry I don't know how to get a cheaper rate at the lodge. But visit the Dam Brewery in Dillon for some good micro-brew.
