Summer Transfer Window

First, when does the Summer Transfer Season begin?

Does anyone know what the latest speculation is for...

Zlatan, Drogba, Ronaldinho, Henry, Fabregas, Berbatov, Jozy, M. Bradley, Guzan, Gooch, Donovan, Memo Ochoa, anyone else of relevance that I overlooked?

One more question: Has Dwayne De Rosario ever had the opportunity to play in Europe? On the surface, I've been impressed with his skill as an attacking mid. Of course I don't notice all the subtleties of the game so he may not be as good as I think. Sorry if this is a foolish question, just curious.

As always, anyone willing to share their thoughts and wisdom is appreciated. Hook'em.

Some rumours have Berba to Chelsea for 35MM quid,a nd then Ronaldinho to Spurs (I know; I don't expect it either, but I've got my fingers crossed) for 40, and he'll be joined by Eto'o.

I'm assuming by the lack of responses that it's still a bit early for speculation. Clearly patience is not my strong suit. I'm dying to know where some of the Yanks will be playing next season...

A lot of the early speculation is very unreliable, and is often lead by the player's agents rather than anything concrete.

Current rumors:
Ronaldinho to Inter/AC Milan/ Man City
Drogba to Real Madrid
Henry to Newcastle
Peter Crouch to Man City/Aston Villa

Tottenham Hotspur signs Luka Modric for transfer record of £15.5m

I'm very very happy with this signing. He owned Lampard and Gerrard when England played Croatia last time out. Let's hope if Berba does leave (which I think he will this year) that he goes to Spain or Italy, not to the Mancs or the Plastics.

Tottenham Hotspur this morning agreed a deal to sign Luka Modric believed to be for a minimum of €20m (about £15.5m), breaking their transfer record.

The Barclays Premier League club have beaten competition from Newcastle United, Chelsea and Manchester City for the signature of the Croatia midfield player from Dynamo Zagreb. There are believed to be add-ons to take the fee to £20.5m.

I would prefer not having Crouch. He does not dazzle me but I guess because I think he runs like a colt finding its legs. Of course, I would prefer Ronaldinho. Holy **** that would be amazing but I won't hold my breath. But for once there will be money flowing and a coach getting things going.

Milan confirms Flamini deal

MILAN, Italy (Ticker) - AC Milan have agreed a four-year contract with Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini, the Italian club confirmed on their web site on Monday.

The 24-year-old, who is out of contract at the Emirates Stadium in the summer, underwent a medical on Monday and has reached agreement over a deal that will see him remain at the San Siro until June 2012.

Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani revealed the signing was imminent after his team’s 2-1 triumph over Internazionale in Sunday’s derby.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger admitted on Sunday he was not “super-confident” Flamini would still be at Arsenal next season.

Despite the offer of a lucrative new five-year deal - understood to be worth around $110,000-a-week - from the north London club, his head was turned by Milan’s interest.

Juventus were also reported to be tracking the France international, who formed a fine partnership with Cesc Fabregas at the heart of the Arsenal team this season having looked to be on his way out of the club at the end of the last campaign.

He put in a fine performance at the San Siro as Wenger’s team knocked Milan out of the Champions League at the last-16 stage in March.

It is understood the player said his goodbyes to some staff as he left the car park after Sunday’s home win over Everton in the Premier League.

“Frankly, I don’t know,” said the Arsenal manager when asked about Flamini’s future. “But if you ask me was I overall super-confident, I would say no.”

Flamini expressed his joy that the deal had been done after finalizing terms with the Serie A outfit.

“I am extremely happy. Thanks a million,” he said.

The former Marseille man will compete for a place in the Rossoneri midfield alongside Brazil star Kaka and Italy trio Gennaro Gattuso, Andrea Pirlo and Massimo Ambrosini.

Milan climbed into the final qualifying place for the Champions League on Sunday, leapfrogging Fiorentina who lost 2-1 at Cagliari.

Flamini’s last match as an Arsenal player will be Sunday’s Premier League trip to Sunderland before he officially joins the Milan ranks on July 1.

dang, now goal.com is reporting that it's a done deal.

The loan to Recreativo should get him much more time on the pitch next season as well. Great move for him at this point in his career.

I've always hated "Done deals" that are not done yet.
If and when the deal is actual done
, then you can call it a "done deal". But when athletes, agents, whatevers say "it's a 'done deal'", and it isn't signed, it drives me crazy. Because their failure rate is probably 40% after "done deal" is said.

Giovani transferred to Tottenham Hotspur

FC Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur FC have come to an agreement for the transfer of Giovani Dos Santos to the English club.

The Mexican will sign for the club managed by Juande Ramos until June 30, 2013 for a fee 6 million euros plus another 5 million depending on the player’s appearances for the London club during his five year’s of contract.

FC Barcelona also maintain 20% of the financial rights to any possible transfer of the player during his first two years of contract and 10% on any transfer from his new club, Tottenham Hotspur FC.

Giovani dos Santos, aged 19, joined Barça in 2002/03 and joined the Infantil A (Under 15) squad, eventually making his first team debut in 2007/08, in which he has played an intermittent part in Frank Rijkaard’s first team.

I am very happy for Gio because he can play somewhere we he can be appreciated. Barcelona fans are ridiculous. I have to consider them the aggy of Spain after the way their supporters shamelessly throw everyone to the lions, not to mention their undifatigable envy of Real Madrid.

He is a left-footed forward who has excellent technical skills, pace, and vision. He was the pillar of the group that won the U17 world cup in 2005. He is versatile enough to play as a winger on either side, a withdrawn forward, and an "enganche" (which I can't really explain in english). He scored a hat trickin his last game with Barcelona.

Nice.

I'm just thinking if we can hang onto Berbatov.

Gareth Bale at left back with Gio as a left winger overlapping each other and whipping crosses into the box for Keane and Berba. Also now we have Modric in the middle.

We still need a defensive mid, a decent goalie, and another central defender.
