I don't know what the deal is but this morning I started finding sugar ants on my laptop. They keep coming out and i keep killing them. Now I'm trying to blast my laptop with a little can of compressed air. Any ideas on what to do?
I guess since this is not on Esther's, I shouldn't post ridiculous comments! I would sincerely hope the OP would know enough not pour water on his laptop or on any other electrical device.
I was serious however about the vaccume idea. I just don't know how sensative those keys or any other components are.....
Take it to somebody (or do it yourself if you can) and open it up. Did you spill something one day? Either a drink or crumbs could do it.
Are these the ants that like electronics? Open it up and do your compressed air thing or vacuum lightly. Also, consider storing your laptop in a sealed plastic bag or maybe Tupperware overnight.
just put some sugar out next to the laptop and watch them come streaming out. Only thing is, you have to be vigilant and make sure they dont make their way back into your computer. Or stick in the dishwasher...
My fingers caused an ant massacre today. I might leave it out tonight with a little bait next to it to see what happens. I haven't seen an ant in a few hours so who knows. I did spill a cocktail on it about 2 months ago and had the keyboard replaced. Maybe they're getting hammered.
That should be a lesson to you to-quit going to those "sugar ants gone wild" websites.
No, some ants like to get inside electronics devices, for some reason. They can get in automobile relays and ruin them, also home A/C units-use ant bait around your compressor at home. I have no idea why they are attracted to these devices, though.
