So, Florida is going through their relievers one after another, and finally get to their closer: The director/producer whoever is smart enough to "throw it" to the hot blonde reporter, she tells us that this closer has an injury, he's been in a walking boot, hasn't pitched in a month, and has an orthotic in his shoe!
Holy cow, I'm thinking, first of all, why is the Florida manager dumb enough to pitch him with an orthotic in his shoe, the kid is rusty, etc.
But then of course I know that Orel is on the broadcast, he will offer some insight as to how this orthotic will impact the closer's timing, balance, etc.
But do we get that insight? No, ESPN is so dumb, they have Nomar, a Shortstop go on and on about this orthotic business and Orel is silent!!
How can ESPN's director/producer be smart enough to have the reporter give us this valuable info. and then 2 minutes later be dumb enough to have Nomar give us his "expert analysis" instead of Orel's?
Btw, Orel did offer one tidbit of insight about that one pitch that probably turned the game. 2-0 count to the tall hitter for Vandy, ball thrown directly over the plate and obviously low. Orel told us the only reason the pitcher got that call was because it was over the middle of the plate. So, 2-1 count, I think it was the next pitch that the tall kid hit the line drive that was caught by the SS for the 2nd out.
If that pitch is correctly called ball 3, the pitcher almost certainly loses the hitter, and Vandy takes the lead.
Orel has so much good info to offer, it just boggles my mind when the director/producer falls asleep.
