Stockman on Carly Fiorina

He covers a lot of ground here. I think Stockman chose Fiorina because she exemplifies many of the systemically rotted policies our country has become entrenched with.
1. The symbiotic relationship between the federal reserve and corporate management.
2. The billions wasted and looted by the military-industrial complex in conjunction with an imperial neocon ideology and revolving door policy between the Pentagon, Congress, and the armaments industry.

Stockman goes into great detail in what, in my opinion, is one of his best columns. It will take you 30 minutes to get through it, but if you have an open mind I think it's well worth the time.

I am rather troubled that the Republicans want vast rearmaments for a country that already spends more on its military than all other nations combined.

I've commented too much no Carly F's abortion rhetoric but the most concerning part of her debate was the hawkish tone. The "I'm not going to talk to Putin but rather put missile systems throughout Eastern Europe, add 2,000 soldiers in Germany, rebuild the 6th fleet" line of talk screamed Neo-Con to me. We can't afford a neo-con in the Whitehouse.

I'm afraid not only the Republicans want this, but most likely half the country or better wants this as well. I think it is crazy.

Just last week, the US announced we are sending 20 nuclear bombs to one of our bases in Germany. Naturally Russia is thinking of responding with more nukes of their own. Just who is the aggressor here?

I wouldn't go as far as she would, but I agree with her on putting more troops in Europe. Our force here is a tiny shell of what it was. I wouldn't put them in Germany though. During the Cold War that made sense. However, it's not a good location now, and it's very expensive.

How do you feel about installing missile systems throughout Eastern Europe and rebuilding the 6th fleet?

For me it's about priorities. More troops is the highest priority. People think we still have a Cold War presence in Europe, and we don't. It's about 1/5 what it was in the '80s. I wouldn't go back to those levels, but I'd go higher than we are. Frankly, we're already in the process of expanding in Europe. I drove by the former Coleman Barracks in Mannheim (on the way to my beer source), and it has been essentially abandoned since around 2013. However, they're doing some work there now to accommodate tanks that will be moved further east.

The 6th fleet would be my next priority, and the missile system would be a distant third place. I think the urge to build a huge missile defense system is based primarily on corporate welfare.
