Stimulus Payment

So I get a letter in the mail today (5/2/08) stating that I should recieve my stimulus payment by 5/2/08 (today). OK...

I checked my bank accounts online and there is no payment. Why the heck didn't they just send me the stupid check in that letter I just recieved.

Government efficiency at its best.

Either one is unacceptable. I may have been off on the 2 billion though.

Yeah, I was supposed to have mine by 5/2 as well but I haven't got it yet. I just bought a house and I'm in a remodeling project so that sucker better get here quick.

I was also expecting mine last week, but it never came. I had to wait until about April 10th to file my taxes, so maybe that had something to do with it?

People who make less than $75K; $600.

$600 per filer (so $1200 for a married couple). $300 for each child 16 or younger on 12/31/2007.

You are not eligible if you earned less than $3000 last year. The benefit phases out if your earned more than $75,000 AGI last year ($150,000 for married couples). Your rebate will not exceed the amount of total tax liability for 2007. If your benefit is lowered for any of these reasons, and your 2008 income qualifies you for a higher benefit, you can take an extra tax credit on your 2008 tax return next year to make up for it.

You are not eligible if someone can claim you as a dependent, even if they don't.

We would have already received ours if my SSN was first on our return. My last two digits are very low. But Shadowdancer is listed first, since he is the man, and his last two digits are very high. We are supposed to receive the direct deposit no later than the 16th. All I can say is that sucker better not be late!

I don't get one because I can be claimed as a dependent. That's just stupid. Us college students are very poor and would probably stimulate the economy more than anyone.
