sticky situation in Florida

Sydney Moss, the UF star freshman, wants to transfer but UF coach Amanda Butler will not release her to play at another Division One school, not to a conference rival school but to ANY Division One school. That's kinda of shocking. I have never heard of that before. Usually, it's conference schools or a small list in addition to conference schools that a coach won't release a player to.

Sydney Moss and a broken college system

I think the prohibition is against any BCS Division One school....if she attends one of these programs she will lose a year of eligibility. She could attend a mid major Division One program, sit out the prerequisite year, and have three remaining years left.

Sounds like Sydney will go the D2 route for one year. Regardless, I don't know much ado regarding Amanda Butler but for her to apply such far reaching restrictions on a STUDENT seems highhanded and unfair. There is such a thing as taking the high road and I don't feel the Florida Staff is doing so and it will be interesting to see what developes out of this.

Dumb move on the UF coach part. She should just let any player that doesn't want to play for her team transfer to a non conference program.
