Does it bother you that he has the most amazing looking setup around him - great rustic cabin, beautiful setting, an assortmant of what looks to be the best possible 'cue & smoking rigs known to man (that are 'normal' for home use) & all he ever uses is that huge *** Weber kettle & occasionally a gas setup?

I mean, c'mon... he has my New Braunfels Bandera there in the background with smoke just pumping out of it like a house-onn-fahr but never goes near it!

Other than that, I kinda like the stuff he shows & talks about in relation to Q from far off places.

his book is great but damn he is a dud on tv. he reminds me of the guy with the fro who use to paint pictures of mountains and landscapes on pbs.

Raichlen has some great stuff on grilling, but is not the best source on smoking IMO. He even describes smoking as a type of indirect grilling. I'm sure his buddies in Martha's Vinyard agree with him, but that kind of talk might get him shot here in Texas.

my problem with the show is the fake "crackling" sound on the grill cam.

and yeah, he pretty much sucks in front of a camera which is why hes on pbs and not the Food Network.

I would be way better on TV than he is, and that is pretty sad. His books have some great recipes in them, though.
