Stephen King's The Mist...

Dear Lord...can I get back the last 2 hours of my life? What a horrible movie. Another one of those Stephen King movies with stupid characters doing stupid things. I was actually glad when the religious lady bought the bullet....praise Jesus.

How in the hell did this movie get 70% on RT? Terrible ending....just plain brutal.

Saw it last night. One of the worst movies ever. Acting was embarrassingly bad.

Man, what a waste of a 500th post

I liked it, or at least thought it was a worthwhile experience (its got such a brutal ending that its kinda hard to call it enjoyable).

I thought it was entertaining. The brutal ending was kind of a shock but I liked it...it was something different.

A horror movie should sometimes have a brutal ending. It was really the only thing I liked about it. The ending really was a shock.

I used to read of lot of Stephen King, and The Mist is one of my favorites of his short stories. However, I learned from the painfully bad "Lawnmower Man" experience not to see any horror movies based on his work.

Now, the prison movies, on the other hand ...

I rented it and liked it. Is it an oscar-winner? No, but it's an entertaining movie. The one aspect that I did enjoy was King's commentary about how human society and principles degrade when put in a situation of fear, uncertainty, and paranoia. The religious zealot character was fun to hate and the ending was brutal but refreshing in the sense that it was unexpected and didn't follow the same old "happy-ending" formula.

the final ending was my first thought after the final car scene. i thought the reactions of the store patrons were spot on with regard to what could happen in a paranoid situation like that.

I agree there are interesting issues raised about different types of faith and hope versus hopelessness. I'll give the movie credit for an interesting subtext and I love Marcia Gay Harden, but the overall movie was pretty pedestrian and didn't really match up to its provocative ending.

I thought the conflict between characters in the store was forced and over the top particularly in view of the brief timeframe.

Liked it.

Mini-spoiler:
I thought the (almost) very end when that AT-AT Walker looking monster walked by the Landcruiser as they were driving through the fog created a real feeling of dread and hopelessness.

Also, was that The Sherminator that got it from the tentacles?

I liked it for the most part.

*** spolier alert !*** kind of

the ending broke my heart.

I hated that movie more than anything, and it wasn't because of the ending.

It didn't even deserve to make the cut to the sci-fi channel.

One time when I was sick I watched a movie on SciFi about a man eating tiger that got loose in the Appalachian mountains and they called in an old gentleman in British East Indies Company garb to hunt down and kill the tiger. Only the last tiger the guy hunted got away and killed a bunch of people and he was using the hunt as a means to get over this. And he spent all his time in a burlap tent in the mountains.

I say this because the Mist was a much, much better movie than that. I actually really liked it.

ok just finished watching it. i liked it. maybe reading all this softened the blow, but i didn't think the ending was bad.

and sci fi? this is the network that aired "ice spiders" so i don't really think its a fair comparison. "on this mountain, the only thing more dangerous than the trails...are the giant spiders!"
