Step Brothers

Saw the sneak preview tonight on passes given to us by a friend. Expected more of the same run of Will's movies of late. You know, 1/2 to 2/3 of the movie pretty good, then it all goes to ****.

This was a pretty f'ing funny movie, and very quotable, pretty much all the way through, with a strong finish.

Stay at the end, after the initial credits begin to roll, for a guilty pleasures kind of moment.

Good stuff.

They were hilarious in Talladega Nights, and when I saw the previews I knew this one would be just as funny. Can't wait to see it!!

i can't believe that people actually pay money to see Will Ferrell recycle basically the same **** in a different movie. it was funny the first few times, now it is EXTREMELY annoying.

I'm going to need a few more glowing reviews, as its been all downhill since Anchorman for Ferrell.

Talledaga Nights - Even Sasha Baron Cohen couldn't save it. I actually hated Reilly in it too.
Ice skating movie - caught it on HBO...only ever laughed at Will Arnot's character.
Basketball movie - couldn't bother watching it, and I'll pretty much buy anything Andre 3000/Woody Harrelson do.

Maybe it'll be good, but Ferrell's trending way down. It's like Adam Sandler all over again, only more ridiculously juvenile.

I was THIS close to officially declaring Will Ferrell the new Adam Sandler. Step Brothers was better than what I expected, but still far from his heyday in Old School.

I will say that this movie was 100000000000000000000 times better than Semi-Pro.

"mamma mia" is probably better than Semi Pro.

I'll give "step brothers" a shot. the preview where the reilly character jumps on the top bunk singing "this is how we do it" cracks me up.

i thought old school was very overrated. thought anchorman was brilliant and was lukewarm about talledega. haven't seen the others, and the previews for step brothers looked horrible to me.
i'm with the poster who needs a few more positive reviews before i'll see it.

I think this was another thread, but I've updated my Will Ferrell's greatest hits in order of allsomeness.

1. Anchorman
1a. The Landlord and Bad Cop internet clips
2. Old School
3. Zoolander
4. Talladega Nights
5. Elf
6. Step Brothers
7. His "Mustafa" appearances in Austin Powers movies
8. Wedding Crashers cameo
9. Blades of Glory
10. Stranger than Fiction
11. Kicking & Screaming
12. Semi-Pro
13. Bewitched

Hmmm...since you made a list...mine would go something like this...

I agree with your top 3 (4):

1. Anchorman
1a. The Landlord and Bad Cop internet clips
2. Old School
3. Zoolander

then we part ways:

4. Step Brothers
5. Stranger Than Fiction
6. Everything else.

Though it was a small part, I thought he was pretty funny in that one scene in "Starsky and Hutch." Enough to deserve mention at least.

Like many others, I'm tired of basically the same jokes and same character in every movie. "Anchorman" was good, but not just because of Will Farrell (good writing). Hell, he wasn't even the best actor in that movie (Steve Carell). "Old School" was decent in spite of Will Farrell, not because of him.

I never really thought he was that good in the first place, to be honest.

I'm gonna need more feedback from people who realize that Talladega Nights sucked before I see this. Unfortunately, some of you apparently have really bad taste in movies.

I thought Talladega Nights sucked. I went into Step Brothers with low expectations and thought it was really funny. I'm going to see it again at some point. I don't really like the Will Ferrell screaming and making facial expressions to be funny schtick and still enjoyed this. I thought the first half of Anchorman was brilliant but the second half sucked so take my opinion for what its worth.
