Stealing from hotel rooms

I'm on the road for the next 3 (?) months, and will be staying at hotels. It scares the **** outta me b/c the security sucks. Last night I tried to get in from the side door and the card key wouldn't work. I went to the front counter, told them my key didn't work, and the clerk reprogrammed my key right then and there w/o checking my ID or asking any other questions - simply "what room"? Granted, I don't have anything expensive with me, but if I leave my computer in the room, someone could just come in w/ assistance from the clerk. What to do?

A superhero and scared? j/k

Most of the time I use the in-room safesm for any vaulables. I have been traveling for work for years and have never had a problem. Just be smart and dont keep vaulables laying out or anything.

is that a Pink Floyd flying pig?

So I don’t feel alone
Of the weight of the stone
Now that I’ve found somewhere safe
To bury my bone

You should be more concerned about hotel staff having sex in your room while you are out. Seriously. One of my former employee's mother is an executive with a major hotel chain, and she told me about it. Sleep in the bathtub.

Mac is right.................I travel every week for work and the first thing I do when I get into my room is take the comforter off and put it as far away from my things as possible.

It was a Marriott Sprinhill Suites. Middle of the road type place, nothing fancy, no in-room safe. But everyone on the team is being downgraded to Hotel ******** next week to save cost.

I'm not paranoid, just kinda pissed that people could potentially get into my room that easily.

As for the comforter thing... yeah, I don't put anything on there that I don't plan on burning in the next 24 hours. I have contributed to the nastiness of a few comforters in the past.
