Steak In Austin

Austin Land and Cattle is the only excellent steak place that I can think of that isn't at least a small chain. I guess I've heard the steak place in Steiner Ranch is good but I havent' eaten there. I like Eddie V's quite a bit but its a chain. Pappas and Ruth's Chris are good but are chains. I haven't eaten at Perry's but here it is good but its a chain. I used to like that place Reed's North Austin but its long closed. What other places am I missing?

The Steiner Ranch steak place is "Steiner Ranch Steakhouse." Been there a few times -- the steaks are good - - comparable to ALC. The facility is nice, and the views are great.

ALC is good. I used to eat at Sullivan's 8-10 years ago quite a bit. I always like it. (could be that it was free most of the time too)

The best grade B (possible C) steak in town is at Hoffbrau.

There is a place on Mesa drive in NW austin that is pretty good. I don't think it's a chain. Mesa Ranch or something I think.

There are two of these in town, but Gumbo's actually has a pretty good steak with some awesome crab or crawfish topping.

What about Hudson's on the Bend out on 620. They serve all kinds of different meat.

While not really steak, the Brazillian Churascaria(sp) on 71/290 west in South Austin is pretty good.

I'm very hungry now

just go to III Forks. there are more than one of them in existence.

So what?

If you MUST only have prime beef from a place with only one location, you have one choice, Austin land & Cattle.

And what's with the hate for a chain steakhouse?

LHF68 and I went to ALC about a year ago to celebrate when we bought our house. It was NOT GOOD. Especially for the price. Anyone been there recently?

Z-tejas makes a pretty good steak, believe it or not. Go to to the one on 6th.

Go to Eddie V's, and say Hi to Augie for us
