State property at 45th Bull Creek

Currently, TXDOT occupies the buildings off Bull Creek near 45th.

Supposedly a long time ago it was a school for mentally disabled kids. Before that, it was a horse track.

People I know that have been hiking over there say that within a year the state will fence the property off and turn it into to a state cemetary.

Does anyone know anything about this?

I suggested as such (re Mabry) to an ex-military friend of mine. He said it is unlikely they would redevelop Mabry anytime in the near future. One reason was 'soil contamination', but he refused to elaborate....

Why not both? A park/cemetery. That's what Victorian cemeteries were. I used to live off of hancock and I'd jog up to burnet and back. Sometimes I'd loop through the cemetery. I was never sure if it was good manners or not. It was safe and green. But its not like I was dressed for a funeral either.

They should send and relocate all cemetaries either far north to Round Rock or south to Buda, just like the growth. Or let Native Americans dig 'em up and develop them.
