Posted this to r/LonghornNation with no response. Thought I'd try here. Thanks for any help. Feel free to to swing by for a beer on 9/12, 9/19.
So, after 5 years on the waitlist, I got the email from TFC to pick a tailgate spot . I landed what seems like a good spot on edge of Lot 7 in front of the Bob Bullock Museum.
While I've thrown together a few one-day tailgate events in my time, this will all be a little new to me, so I've got a few questions on logistics. Any help would be much appreciated.
TL;DR: How do I do teh tailgatings?

- Set-up. How does the permit pickup process go? I'm told we need to be there to pick between 6-8pm on Friday, and that we need to "secure" the spot. Do most people just leave a car there? Surely you don't just leave tailgating gear down there overnight, right?
- Power. I'm assuming there's no power via outlets in the state lots, right? I've looked into the generator and deep cycle battery solutions, just want to make sure there's no built-in power source before I spend the money. Also, any advice on the generator/battery options would be appreciated. I'm leaning toward 2 6V golf cart batteries in parallel and a 500W inverter.
- Timing. What time do people usually get down there to set up? I was thinking around noon-1pm for the first 2 night games? 8-9am for early games.
