I hear Stanford is coming to town this weekend. Tree's record: 5-3. They won 2 of 3 at Rice, lost 2 of 3 at Vandy, and beat Cal and Santa Clara. ERA: 2.87. Team BA: .302. Homers: 6. Errors: 14.
Horns better turn it up offensively. Especially the veterans. Through 8 games non-true freshman players are batting .200 on the year. A whopping 36 of 140. Slow starts aside, that's downright depressing. As some of these guys were rather inept last year too. Etier, Walsh, and Lusson are managing a dreadful 8 of 66 combined. Normally it's easy to be patient, but this is little change from them last year, actually worse. Let's pick it up, vets. The rookies are embarrassing you.
I suspected we wouldn't hit any better this year so I'm not surprised. The bullpen is what needs improvement. Very disappointing and unreliable so far.
Texas is batting .252 and no homers against Maryland, Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Hawaii with era of 3.09. Stanford lost 2 one run games at # 2 Vanderbilt. This will be the first good baseball team Texas has faced this year while every team Stanford has faced is ranked except Santa Clara. Time for Texas to step it up.
With four everyday starters batting .167 and below...the guys we use at DH, an OF, and lead-off hitter...this weekend is important for our bats. Those are not positions you want to be hitting the worst, and realistically expect to challenge for titles. Come on guys, don't be the dead bat in the order...again this year.
