i don't really know what to make of this game in that almost everyone seems to think a uconn victory is a foregone conclusion. and they did handle the cardinal by a comfortable 12 pts during the regular season after trailing at the half so perhaps everyone is right. nonetheless i have always felt stanford had the game and players to compete with and potentially beat the huskies, though their past two contests vs. xavier and ou have left me wondering if that's true after all. hopefully they will play their best in the final and make a contest of it....i really don't want to see a blowout even though that is what many expect at this point.
I am so freaking tired of Doris Burke doing nothing but going on and on and on and on about UCONN. Is she sleeping with Geno or something? Good lord, have SOME objectivity when calling the game. She is nothing but a high visibility recruiter for the Huskies.
Having said that, I don't mind UCONN winning. They have put in the work to get to where they are. The better team usually wins and they are better team so I expect them to bring home their 7th title.
Like Geno said, let everyone else catch up. Stanford and Baylor may catch them in the next few years.
I will be supportive of Stanford and believe they could win if Moore has an off day....without doubt she is the heart / soul of UConn and they would have had more difficulty beating Baylor w/o her big production....She is among the very best in the history of womens NCAA b-ball..
TXtoCO, even the male announcer is in the tank! I've heard him REPEATEDLY say "YES!" whenever UConn makes a basket!! Can they not even PRETEND to be unbiased?!?
Charles played a remarkable defensive game. At the end she had the entire Stanford team altering shots and missing inside and outside.
While Nneka was awesome against OU, UCONN held her in check. Maya Moore showed why she was national player of the year with her shooting in the second half. Stanford opened the second half with either 2 or 4 points in the first 8 minutes of the half.
What does that say about Tara's halftime motivational speech?
Too bad Jane Appel played injured in this game.
Thanks to Stanford for the food spreads and pep rallys on Sunday and Tuesday. Great to see lots of old Stanford friends over the weekend. The Leland Stanford Junior University Band remains incomparable! Sure wish they could get a real mascot.
Regrettably it seems as though the UCONN Husky did to the tree what dogs have been doing to trees and hydrants for a long time.
The presence of the Vice President at the game caused a pain in the backside at entry to the Alamo dome. First time I've ever been wanded to go to a basketball game. Major freeways in San Antonio were blocked to allow his motorcade to leave and traffic was a mess as a result.
It was great to see Joe Biden mingling with the hundreds of military color guard troops and it was clear they enjoyed meeting him.
That first half was awful, probably set the women's game back 50 years. How can anyone miss so many shots, and I include Stanford. A lot were not closely contested. Stanford could have been up by 20 or 25 at the half.
agreed, accurate, could not believe how many shots missed, esp. by Appel, right UNDER the basket....twitter post from Mechele Voepel said Stanford was just MAD, not sad...they know they gave the game away...
That first half was one of the ugliest I have ever seen. That team can no longer be considered the best ever after that mess. The 2002 team would have beat that team by 30 points last night.
I have returned from my 1st F4 and I had a blast! San Anton is a great city and venue for an event like this. I didn't particularly like the Alamodome - I think I'm biased because of the AAC and Cowboy stadium in the DFW area. But I had a great time.
O, a shout out to Maria F., Silverstars player for giving me tickets to the lunch at the Sunset place before the game. THANKS!!
Now back to the game...I kept telling Stanford shoot, shoot, shoot the first half. You must get up by as many points as you can because the Huskies will come back for blood in the 2nd half. And sure thing Maya was Maya and razzled and dazzled us. She's great to watch! She's a GAMER!!! I was dumb founded that UCONN only scored 12 points in the 1st half. UNBELIEVABLE!! Stanford did not capitalize. They only lost by 6 and if they would have made 4 more baskets in the 1st half they would have won. Man I know they are kickin' themselves for this lost. They coulda, shoulda, woulda won.
