I was listening to NPR a few days ago and the broadcasters were tripping all over themselves to honor and respect the native culture and religious beliefs of Native Americans. Where is this respect when dealing with Christianity? It is amazing to me how far the left goes to say we have to respect this belief and that belief but then lampoons Christians.

I honestly believe the Native Americans have a legitimate beef and I hope they win, but the hypocrisy of the left just kills me.

I'm a Christian who listens to NPR a lot and I can't remember an instance of disrespect for Christianity being expressed by any of NPR's paid journalists. I know NPR is viewed as "leftist" but it is vastly different than right wing talk radio. It's tone is non-partisan and there's not enough anger in two weeks of programming to match 10 minutes of Sean Hannity. NPR personalities are respectful of Muslims, Hindus, Native Americans, Jews, Pagans and anybody else who is a subject of or guest on its program. The network politely interviews people of all political stripes and the amount of time spent on facts as opposed to opinion is pretty remarkable in this day of partisan media.

I dispute your position of non-partisanship. They may be more low-key and less vitriolic than other left wing outlets (and a lot of right wing outlets ) but they are absolutely left. Not only left, but establishment left...I think it was comical how little regard Diane Rheem gave Bernie Sanders during the race.

I did conflate NPR with left media and you're correct that the paid journalists aren't 'disrespectful' except that they routinely host guests that support undermining the impact of Christianity in our nation. And rarely is there an alternative view presented by a guest.

In my opinion their facts are cherry picked to support an argument that is consistent with their views and then these facts are editorialized to accentuate their preferred positions.

Every Trump fact has a "he's so evil" bent while every HRC fact had/has a "she's done so much good" bent.

Well, I think Stephen Colbert (back when he was on Comedy Central and actually fun to watch) said it best. "Facts have a well known liberal bias."

I can't even begin to estimate how many positive articles about Christianity I've heard on NPR over the years. They've featured countless Christian scholars, clergy, missionaries, volunteers, politicians, etc. Just this past weekend:
  • I listened to an excellent NPR story about Christmas family traditions, centered around food but touching liberally (no, not that kind of liberally) on religion and spirituality.
  • A friend told me I need to listen to an NPR interview of Neil Diamond talking about his love of Christmas music.
I'm constantly amazed at the breadth and depth of NPR stories. They touch on everything, and do it mostly with respect and fairness. The hosts are mostly (all?) liberals, and they definitely portray a left-leaning viewpoint. But they invite on as many conservative guests as liberal ones, and they treat all guests with respect and let them talk extensively.

I remember years ago during the defunding debate, there was a government report claiming that NPR had more conservatives guests than liberal ones. It turns out the study was putting independents and moderate Republicans into the "liberal" category.
