Stadium access question

My dad is in his 80s and in excellent health, all things considered. His lady friend is also in her 80s and in good health except for some neuropathy issues in her feet. She doesn't handle being in the sun as well as she used to, so I'm offering to swap ticket locations with them.

My tickets are in Section 4 fairly close to the upper tunnel. Currently, they are in Section 5 closer to the lower tunnel. [I know, I know... both are sppropriately blue hair sections.] I thought they'd enjoy the extra 45 minutes of shade they'd get in my seats. The yard line difference is negligible.

Her concern is that she doesn't negotiate stairs as well these days because of her neuropathy, so she wants to avoid as many stairs as possible. I won't be at the early games this season, so we can't just wait for the first game to see what the alternatives are for gettng to the higher rows. We need to know if there is an elevator that provides easier access to that upper tunnel. I've always walked the stairs with no thought as to alternatives.

Can someone help me with this?

P.S. - A bonus for them is that we have an excellent bunch of folks around my seats. Unfortunately, their stadium neighbors are annoying as hell. This in one time I'll be glad I don't make many games.

Have you never walked the ramps that go to the upper tunnels? It's more steps, but you can go at your own pace. There are four switchbacks to get to the top. The only elevator is used to get to the Centennial club.

I would call the Texas Box Office or Longhorn Foundation to get the questions you have answered. In my season ticket package there was a bunch of stuff about access. On this board you are likely to get 10 different answers and none of them will be right.

The escalators have an exit close to the upper tunnels...and an elevator pass can be requested from Belmont. The pass would be good for the person in need plus one.

Call 471-3333 for info.

Thanks for the responses. I'll call Belmont.

I'm aware of the ramps. I usually take the steps to the lower tunnel and walk up to row 46. That way, I can wave and great the masses when I show up 5 minutes after kickoff, ala Anne Richards. I always take the ramps after the game.

I don't think my dad's lady friend would like the crowded ramps after the game. If someone stepped on her foot, pushed or tripped her, she might not even know it until she was falling. That foot problem she has isn't good.

You can call Belmont and they'll let you swap your tickets for the handicap seats at the top of each section. You can ride the elevator and walk to the seats with very few steps. Worked for my wife when she had knee surgery and couldn't handle the stairs.

Most Stadiums, if not all, will have accessible seats available to switch out on game days. Go early and get it taken care of.

My buddy had his leg in a cast a few games last year and they swapped our tix for some in Section 1 on the very front row...
