St. Augustine Sod or Plugs

When I moved into my house the backyard had a 30 foot diameter hole in the backyard. Last week I filled it in with some fill dirt.

The left side of my yard is St. Augustine, the middle is the filled in hole and the right side is a mix of weeds and St. Augustine. Should I put down some plugs on the new dirt to ensure that the SA will take?

Any advice on buying sod or plugs and if it is worth it in my case? A couple of lawn sites I found said that there was no seed available so I guess thats ruled out.

The money you save by going with plugs over solid sod will be more than eclipsed by the money and time spent battling the weeds. I would sod the entire "hole".
