Saint Arnold Brewing Company, the oldest craft brewery in Texas, is preparing to introduce the latest edition of its small batch series of craft beer styles, Saint Arnold Divine Reserve No. 6 on June 12th and 13th. But don't blink. Saint Arnold Divine Reserve is brewed in very limited quantities and sells out at most locations in a day or two.

Saint Arnold Divine Reserve No. 6 is an American Barleywine, which is among the strongest of the beer styles. Although the barleywine style originated more than 100 years ago, San Francisco's Anchor Brewing is widely credited with popularizing the American Barleywine style when it released Old Foghorn in 1975.

"Saint Arnold Divine Reserve No. 6 builds on the tradition of American craft brewers and the result is special treat for anyone who enjoys a big, strong, high-quality beer," said Brock Wagner, Founder/Brewer of Saint Arnold Brewing. "We loaded it up with hops, so it is intense, but it is amazingly balanced and wonderfully full-bodied. We are very proud of it."

Despite a worldwide shortage of hops, the 120-barrel recipe features 225 pounds of hops. In fact, the hops in Saint Arnold Divine Reserve cost more than all the ingredients in earlier versions of the Divine Reserve series.

As is the case with each edition of the series, Saint Arnold Divine Reserve No. 6 features a unique recipe and is distinguished from earlier versions by the batch number on the neck label. Saint Arnold Brewing produced fewer than 1,200 cases and a very limited supply of kegs of Saint Arnold Divine Reserve No. 6. It is expected to arrive at select stores in Houston, Austin, San Antonio and Dallas/Fort Worth on June 12 and 13. Each six pack is priced at approximately $15.

With a high alcohol by volume content of 10 percent, Saint Arnold Divine Reserve No. 6 is best enjoyed in small quantities at 45°F or warmer. It has an original gravity of 1.094 and final gravity of 1.019. More information on Divine Reserve No. 6 can be found at The Link

I sure would like to try this, but it's a dead-rat certainty that it won't be available in Temple, Texas. I will "gladly pay you Tuesday" if someone could pick me up a sixer of this highly anticipated brew.

i'd love to pick some up as well. anyone in the know post a houston locale, pr favor.

Texanne, you know I've got yer back.

I'll keep a watchful eye out.

You know, I love almost all beer styles, but I have to say that the Barleywines are just TOO SWEET for me.

However, I hear that the Gingerman in Downtown Austin will be getting its hands on some.

What's the word Myke? I haven't really been in a barleywine mood since it's so darn hot now, but if it's really good I'll go pick up a sixer.

Scored 2 sixers. Both Specs and Central Market were limiting customers to one six pack a piece.
I went to Spec's first, then Central Market. It was NOT on display, you had to ask them for it. As I was there, another guy came in and was picking up some. I told him to head over to Specs if he wanted another one. Dude almost hugged me.
I was so tired last night I didn't try one, it would have been wasted on me.

I walked into Kroger on West Gray last night to pick up a sixer and what do I see? About 5 cases of Divine Reserve #6. I had completely forgotten it was coming out. Some dude walks up and is super excited. Said he had been to 4 stores that were already sold out. (He kind of reminded me of Kevin from The Office in the episode where the new HR person thinks he's a retard) There was no limit on how many you could buy, so I think he may have horded 3 or so cases. Anyways, I picked up two six packs. A little surprised at the $14.99 per six pack price, but this is a really, really tasty beer and totally worth it. Seriously folks, it was like there was a party in my mouth! Very hoppy, not sweet at all. There's an amazing array of flavors. If you're lucky to find it, do not hesitate to pick up some of this amazing beer. I have to say it was (((divine))) intervention that I lucked in to finding some myself!

This kind of sucks, but I know a place you can get 2 bottles per visit.

Go to the Whip-In, walk up the counter, look left then right, and mutter "Divine". They will sell you at just over $3 per bottle.

Picked up a six-pack on the way home this evening. I called my neighborhood HEB last Friday (thanks to the "heads up" on HornFans) and spoke w/ the beer/wine department manager, who agreed to set aside a six-pack for me as soon as their (measly) two cases arrived. When I got there today, three people spent 10 minutes trying to find it (can you say S-W-E-A-T?), before the grocery manager told them to look in the FLORAL cooler. Apparently all of the shipment was "reserved" by people who called ahead, and they figured the floral cooler would be the best place to keep them, so someone didn't accidently put any out on the shelf.

I sure hope my boyfriend likes it.

Massive.
I had hop burps for most of the evening. I like that it's relatively unfiltered. Very hop-spicy.

I just returned from HEB at DeZavala and I-10 in San Antonio, and they had SIX CASES stacked next to the beer case, with NO LIMIT on how many you could buy.

had it last night at a bar in the clear lake area (houston). i was so psyched that they had it. good stuff.

I doubt any more sixers can be found in Austin but does anyone know of some? I've had a few bottles from the Whip In on 35 and it was amazing. Great brew
