... on your computer" - which by the way is the most ironic statement I've seen on the internet. The people who snuck adware onto your computer are now warning that you may have spyware! Imagine that!!!

Anyway, anyone know about those popups and how to remove them? I've tried three different types of adware removal and no luck. They come back every 30 seconds or so meaning if i walk off my computer is basically jammed with popup screens.

Little help? Thanks!

Actually those are two I've already used. They actually got rid of it once, but it came back over this week and apparently doesn't want to go away.

try microsoft antispyware.

then, check your proceses list and see if u spot anything unusual and shouldnt be there. google it to see if it's spyware.

I had this problem a year or so ago on a diff. computer. I concur w/ trying to start up in safe mode then run. A bunch of things were found that were not when it was on.

Thanks for the feedback - I'll definitely try safe mode. Actually, talking about XP, I've never had a spyware issue on my laptop, which has XP. My desktop, which has 2000, has been a struggle of late though. I made the mistake of going to a website to check song lyrics, and I got like five different adwares dumped on my drive. Microsoft's software was the only one that was able to clean the stuff off, but this last time when the popups returned it couldn't do anything either. Anyway, I'll try safe mode and see how it goes.

Well, thanks to safe mode, I think i got the problem handled. Found a lot of files linked to the adware that weren't caught in normal checks. Haven't come back since, so looks good. Thanks for the assist everyone!

I'm a lazy ****, so everytime I get in spyware trouble, I just run System Restore to like two days ago. Man I wish life had a System Restore function.

Webroot Spy Sweeper is available for a free 30 day download. This is usually my third option when AdAware and Spybot S&D don't work. It will clean stuff on reboot that can't be cleaned when the system is running. BTW, you can uninstall and reinstall Spy Sweeper and the trial will begin again.

Prodigal, download spyware blaster and install it. It's not a removal tool, but it blocks spyware better than adaware or spybot does.
