spyware/malware detection programs

ok, I'm getting a pop-up every 3 seconds or so, and I have the google toolbar, but it isn't stopping them.

These aren't popups from any particular website. They aren't hornfans popups. The same popups keep coming no matter what page I'm on.

I have Ad-Aware 6.0 with the latest reference file. It will find a bunch of stuff and remove it, but 5 minutes later I can scan again and a bunch of stuff is back.

Are there better programs out there? Anyone have any better tips?

... and you should makre sure you do a virus scan while you're at it.

Actually, Ad-Aware is probably the least of the protectors. Like dude said, you need all of those listed above.

I think I finally got it.

Now I'm only getting the normal hornfans ads.

The trojan that was on here was a pain in the ***. It renames itself every time it runs, and it names itself based on rearranging the filename of a legit file in my system directory.

Bazooka found it and the manual removal instructions on the bazooka site were really good. So I was able to find it and clean it off.

So far so good....
