Spurs sweep the Lakers

Man I want to see Duncan get a 5th Ring before he retires. Pop said that when Duncan retires he's going to too. I am still scratching my head and I understand why they traded Stephen Jackson but why aquire Tracy McGrady. Has this guy played a whole season once in his career??

I think McGrady was added because a player has to have not played during the season to be added to a team's roster for the playoffs. It was probably a move to just add a body at this point.

I too was sorry to see Jackson go. It could be that he wasn't happy about losing minutes to Leonard and became a distraction around the team.

I hated to see Jack go, but there is no doubt that Pop runs a tight ship and I think Jack had worn out his welcome mat. Looks to me like Pop didn't want to take locker room instability into the playoffs. In any event, I trust his judgment.

I don't think you look at T-Mac as coming in to carve out a starting spot. We know that Tim, Tony, and Manu are the core, with Leonard establishing himself as the future. Yes, T-Mac's been injury prone, but I don't see the Spurs shouldering a lot of minutes. He comes in to support/spell the starters and stretch the floor with perimeter shooting. I like the pick up.

The best news is that the Spurs, having swept the trainwreck that is the Lakers, can now count on about a week's worth of rest. That's much needed down time, rest and recovery. Looks like we get Golden State next.

GO SPURS GO!!

McGrady looked awful in mop-up time the other night. Slow, old and no body control. Not really sure why they signed him.

Honestly I don't think that Pop was looking for someone "better," because "better" means possibly adding to the starting rotation, which could mean disruption of team chemistry. They probably added McGrady just in case some core player either got hurt or had a bad night (like when Steve Kerr came in for Game 6 of the 2003 Dallas series or when Speedy Claxton came in for Tony in the Finals that same year) and hopefully tear **** up in a short span of time, which is really all McGrady has ever been good for in the first place. In that context, I do not believe that could have signed anyone better. It's not like Robert Horry or Steve Kerr were available.

Yeah, it's not like he was going to have someone on Stephen Jackson's level anyway, except for Stephen Jackson himself, and if Popovich thinks that talent wasn't worth whatever difficulties his attitude was bringing along, he's probably right. They have a stricter standard for that than most organizations, and it's served them pretty well.

Was it me or did Danny Green look an awful lot like Sean Elliott hitting that 3 to tie it in regulation? I'm talking about the Memorial Day miracle shot against the blazers in late 90's. His feet weren't as close to the sidelines as Sean's got, but it was very similar because he was obviously concerned about making sure his feet stayed in-bounds.

Great game, I sure hope Pop figures out a way to slow Curry down.

I actually thought of that Elliot shot when Green made his MeaHorn. I believe the Spurs also came back from a big 2nd half deficit in that game too.

The Spurs may end up taking this series 4-1, or 4-2, but I expect each game to be a dogfight. GS is playing some of the best ball in the tournament and as I've said previously, Curry scares the crap out of me.

It will be interesting to see how SA defends Curry tonight. Leonard seemed to have pretty good success late in game one.

They say game 5 is the most crucial in a tight series, and man did the Spurs come through at both ends tonight against the Warriors. Even Corey Joseph made a couple of SportsCenter highlights.
