My family is getting one of those family plans and they are all switched over to sprint already. My contract with Verizon is up and i was wondering if i should stay or switch as well.

Verizon has been great for me in austin..but to save money..i could switch...soo....

How is sprint in Austin???

It's been hella better than my AT&T was. I've only had Spring and AT&T so I can't compare to anything else.

I've had Sprint for 5 years with no problems. Never had a problem getting a signal anywhere around Austin, except in DKR during football games.

Had Sprint for 3-4 years.
Relatively cheap, can't complain about the coverage.
One baffling problem I have had (with 3-4 different phones)
is a tendency for some calls to just not come through. People will say they called me, and in some cases leave a voice-mail which I can access, but nothing shows up as a missed call. Pretty annoying.

Agree about DKR during games. Also, there are some pockets in NW Austin that I haven't been able to get service. Otherwise, it's all good.

there was some article about a year ago that they were putting a tower on top of the stadium, as well as three or four throughout the central austin area. i can't recall when they said it'd be finished, though.

i had sprint in austin.

reception was pretty good, but att (some phones) and cingular GSM had a lot better reception. i really think it depends on your phone.

i had a really bad experience with Sprint (customer service) - they blatantly lied several times about details of my contract, and eventually i just up and signed with another provider. i've had a couple other friends who have had bad experiences with them, but it tends to be the exception. sprint has a pretty good track record.

personally i love cingular wireless and am really happy with the decision to switch.

Sprint has good reception in Austin, BUT they have major problems.

1. I often (about 20% of the time), just don't get calls.
2. I get voice messages sometimes up to 2 weeks later.

This isn't just my phone as it happens to my wife as well. On saturday, I called her 7 times and left 7 messages. So far she has gotten just 1 of them. In about a week, we will wonder wtf are these other 6 "new" messages.

I had Sprint now have AT&T and AT&T gives me much better reception. Used to live on Placid Place, near 45th and Bull Creek and couldn't get reception at my house. Now I live in NW Hills and friends with Sprint have to walk out to the street to get any reception at all.
