Sprint / ATT / Verizon

I am going to upgrade the wife's phone to a Blackberry and am strongly considering Sprint's $99 ulimited plan that gives you unlimited talk, data and text. Does anyone have this and is it as good as advertised? How is Sprint's coverage and reception, primarily in Dallas?

ATT and Verizon have similar plans but they cost more. Which is the best?

If you've never experienced the Sprint or ATT customer service, let me esplain it to you. Imagine an experience of repeatedly ramming your head against a dirty brick wall and then using rubbing alcohol to wash out the dirty wounds. It's a lot like that, but not quite as much fun.

Why are you not considering T-mobile? I have the Curve with full data plan, and my girl has a MotoZine, we have unlimited text and mobile to mobile, total bill is about 120 out the door every month for both phones. Not sure of an unlimited talk time, but the customer service is outstanding. I also hear good things about the Verizon experience, so I'd really look into them and wouldn't mind paying a few extra bucks to avoid Sprint. I'd avoid Sprint like a $5 dollar Thai hooker.

had sprint and recently switched to att. sprint had a horrible rep for cs. but before i left, they got waaaaaaay better. non-indians actually answered the phone quickly and would help solve my problems.

i haven't dealt with att cs yet, but their signal in LA ******* sucks.

Thanks for the replies. I had forgotten that T Mobile exists as an option. Their $99 unlimited plan only seems to cover talk and you have to add an unlimited Blackberry plan for another $40 / month for unlimited talk, web and data.

I'd rather drive a spike through my pecker than go back to Sprint, but in the end it's all about coverage and reliability, and I'm in Austin rather than Dallas...Sprint ******* sucks here, but may be fine up there...I've been on Verizon for 4 years and no problems at all...

I have had AT&T for years now but did also have nextel and verizon for a bit also. Neither of them had very coverage in some of the rural areas I spend a lot of time in but were fine in the metroplex. The customer service sucks for every utility company I have ever used so that's a given.

I have also had Sprint for over 8 years and have never had any problems. Their coverage lacks a little bit if you travel outside a major city or get off the interstate but I don't know if any others do either.

I've been with Sprint since 1995. I, as well, have had no serious gripes with them. They have had their coverage issues, as have all of the other providers. I had two phones with AT&T...it was the worst experience I've ever had...couldn't get away from them fast enough.

Sprint has turned over a new Customer Service leaf recently. They seem to be bending over backward to please. I got my new Instinct telephone for free after I called in about some account and billing problems I had. If you need a tutorial on your phone, you can set up an appointment at one of the Sprint stores and they will train you for free.

All in all, I would rather stick with Sprint, until there is proof positive that another company is waaaaaaaay better for less money.

Part of my job involves testing the performance of the various data options out there. In and around Austin, I've found Verizon performs the best, ATT second., Sprint third. Roaming out of town, I lose any data service for Verizon on the north end of Lampassas but maintain at least EDGE connectivity (about dial=up speed) on ATT out around Zephyr.

If you're at all concerned about roaming coverage, I'd stay away from T-Mobile or AllTel. But around Austin, T-Mobile data coverage, while not as good as ATT, seems ok.

On our home account, I haven't had any problems w/ ATT CS but have rarely used it.
