Sprinkler valve wont turn offf

Hello all,

I was wondering what your thoughts are on my sprinkler system. I had the main valve turned off for the winter so thatthere was no water to any of the zone valves. When I turned it on the other day one of my zones was stuck on. I can manually turn the other zones off and on, but the one zone stays on constantly. I tried to run the zone on the timer for a short period of time so that the timer would turn it off, I tried to power reset the timer. Nothing will stop the zone short of turning off water to the entire system.

Im guessing that it is either 1. a bad valve, 2. bad solenoid. I guess I could change out the valve and take care of both, but I want to avoid all using PVC cement unless I need to. Any ideas on this?

Ive never had a sprinkler system, but could it also be a short? Did you try unplugging your control system?

i had a similar problem a year and a half ago. replacing the solenoid worked. my values were actually leaking and in terrible shape, so i ended up replacing 3 of 6 valves. i would start with the solenoid repair, they're cheap and easy.

Yeah, I power cycled the controller. I think that will start out replacing the solenoid. If that does not fix it I will have a spare one.
