Sprinkler System

So, I'm thinking about having a sprinkler system installed at some point. Does anyone know how bad your yard gets torn up? Are any flowers or plants totally destroyed?

They should be able to dig trenches about 6 inches wide in the yard to drop the pipe in. THe grass should grow back pretty quickly there especially since it will be getting watered more consistently now. THey will probably dig the yard with a trenching machine, then have to hand dig if they go into any planting beds to keep damage minimal.

I used Wilson Irrigation (if you are in Austin); they will hand dig your yard. They are more expensive, but it did not tear up the yard like a machine does.

My neighbor had a system put in about a year ago and they didn't dig any trenches, and finished the job in 1 day.

Unfortunately I wasn't home so I missed the whole thing, but apparently they used some kind of cable laying type of machine.

The system has several grids and a junction box for multiple valves, timers, etc.
