First time I have seen Michigan miss that list in a long time. I thought the Horns might be ranked #10 - #12 based on starters lost last year, especially JC.

Georgia at number one sounds like the pick of most of the experts. I think we are somewhere from 10-15 so 12 is about right there too.

I think Tech will be every bit as good as they are projecting. They have really
concentrated on the D side and their schedule lines up nicely for a possible run at the Big XII south.

Don't forget, this time last year they were being toated as a "rebuilding" team from losing all 3 of their WR and OL and they lost 4 games, 2 of them were by a touchdown or less. Now with all of their MASSIVE OL returning as well as 7 on D and they only lose one WR, I think this could be Tech's year to shine. We will definitely be in for a ride this year.

UT has a chance at the national title because defense wins championships. It appears that in 4 and a half months, we will field a vicious one.

Didn't he only have something like 15 sacks on 700 passing attempts?
Thats a pretty solid O-line if you ask me. I do agree that getting pressure on Harrell disrupts their offense but man they do have some HUGE guys up front so having quick ends is the key. I remember we tried blizting multiple times up the middle with no success and Harrell was picking apart our D everytime. Seems to me like Mizzou and Colorado are the only teams that have figured out how to defend against their offense.

I'll say this... Lubbock is a tough place to win at... what do you think your realistic chances are of winning up there... I know it's early and hard to gauge anything right now but just some pre-mature thoughts on that particular game? My brother says that game will be a huge game up there and I plan on being there to watch.

FYI I'm not here to flame or start any drama, I graduated from OU two years ago, and I enjoy watching UT football as well as Tech (family ties),
I'm just here for some friendly football chat.

For what it's worth, I think the top 3 Big XII South will go ou, Texas, and Tech but really wouldn't be surprised if Texas woulnd up in any of the top three spots.

c+a+d,

There is a classic photo that pops up in signature lines on this board showing, from a few years ago, the Texas Tech flag bearers running around the surrounding track during a football game, in order T - C - E- H, instead of T- E - C - H.

On HF (HornFans), like aggy, idoit, focusness, and BOMC, the use of Tceh has become an endearing reference to sand aggy as local jingoistic jargon.

Oh, and

OU sucks.

I think Tech will make huge strides over last year. Basically they were playing at times with 2 walk-on olineman and a super thin dline. Their depth will be much, much better this year and they were the 2nd youngest team in the country last year after Temple.

Anyway, Leach has started to recruit a little better, especially on the online and dline and so it should make them more competitive versus OU and UT athletically. Pretty much on D, they are three deep in most positions, something that was unthinkale last year. Even this year, most of the team is still juniors but the biggest difference is that the young guys can now redshirt instead of having to play as true frosh.

Also, don't discount the change at DC because I honestly believe that their previous coordinator, Lyle Setencich was the worst in Div 1a football. He was flat awful and pretty much had the defene confused, thinking too much and down on themselves. Ruffin McNiel is getting a lot more speed on the filed is actually recruiting and is bringing some fire to the defense. In the Spring they are trying to take it to the offense.

That said, will Tech ever be as consistently good or talented as OU or Texas? Probably not, but I think this next year will be interesting as I predict a win versus UT at home and a loss versus OU on the road. UT has played very well versus Tech lately, maybe their best games of the season so I think for some reason that it will be a trap game for the,. The rest of the games are all winnable if Tech plays well. The only thing that worries me as a Tech fan is for teh past two seasons, Tech has had a bad slump during the middle of the season where they did not play well.

Anyway, based on sheer talent, this is by far the best and most complete team that Leach will ever have at Tech. A lot of young, more atheltic recievers will help take pressure off of crab, there will be three solid running backs and the oline will be massive and experienced. Add that to a much more solid defense and I think Tech stands a good chance in the South.

Georgia at preseason #1 isn't a bad choice. However, there's little chance the Dawgs will finish in the top two, IMO.
Their schedule is brutal.
9/13 @ South Carolina TBA
9/20 @ Arizona State TBA
9/27 Alabama TBA
10/11 Tennessee TBA
10/18 Vanderbilt TBA
10/25 @ LSU TBA
11/01 Florida TBA
11/08 @ Kentucky TBA
11/15 @ Auburn TBA
11/29 Georgia Tech TBA

Throw in a potential SEC championship game against Auburn, Bama or LSU (all of which they will have already played)

ugh, UGA.

If the Gambler/$60 million man plays for LSU, move us up to about 9 or so. If not, move the Tigahs down to 17.

Yes, 17.
