Spots left vs guys we are still looking at?

I assume we can only take 2-3 more in 09, but seems like we are still looking at 5-10. What are the exact #'s?

You have to take McFarland and Kennard, if interested. I'd love to have room for either Brent or Loston and Michael at RB.

We're still recruiting Jarvis Jones (LB) too.

Given our lack of depth at DE in 09, I'd put Kennard as our most important recruit moving forward. Depending on how he recovers from his injury, he could make an immediate impact next year.

At DT next year we have:

Houston (I hope)
Randall
Alexander
Wilcoxon
Humphrey
Johnson (TF)
Howell (TF)

At DE we have:

Jones
Acho
Kindle (Kind of)
Carter
Okafor (TF)
Jones (TF)
Kriegel (TF)

I'm not comfortable with our depth at either position, but it looks to me like we have more of a need at DE than DT.

Of course, I'd love to have both McFarland and Kennard!

McFarland is more a need because he's from Texas and high school that produces alot of D1 talent.

Plus he's a difference maker at a need position and considered the best DT since Tommie Harris in the state.

DT is more of a need with Wilcoxon and Alexander being a little unkown as to what level they can play at consistently. Jarvis H will be a player but apparently he is going to need time to get physically ready to compete in Big 12. Interesting about Randall not redshirting and JH is.

I'm not worried about our DE's at all for 09. Acho looks like a total stud and Eddie Jones looks good and is a 5 star guy that should improve. Russell Carter and Kindle (btw LB and DE) should provide depth with maybe Okafor seeing the field.

Hopefully we go into next season with three TEs healthy (Irby, Harris and Marshall) that should allow Howard to move back to DE.

well i am still worried about DE. Acho looks like he will grow into a stud. Eddie Jones hasn't turned that corner yet that Kindle has. and speaking of Kindle, if he continues to improve, i don't think it's out of the question that he jumps to the NFL. sure it would be a bad move, as he has lots to learn, but it's possible. however, i am very pleased with Okafor coming in next year, as he's a difference maker. Kennard would be another difference maker, but we need one at DT and McFarland would be that guy (though Howell is not chopped liver).
