Sportsmanship

Not sure if anyone caught it but ... At the end of the Texas Tech versus Oklahoma State game, OSU went for it on fourth and one to ice the game. The running back broke it off tackle to the right and had nothing but grass and daylight to the end zone. He slid down at about the 3 yard line and they took a knee on the last play to end the game. Been having a bad week but that changed it. Very classy :hookem2:

Opposite of that is Penn St RB who went ahead and scored the TD against Indiana vs. dropping down and his team ends up losing the game and their season...

As much as I would like to believe it was sportsmanship, it was a way to ensure TTU wouldn’t get any chance of seeing the ball again. If he had scored, Tech would have not only a chance to score, but then onside kick for the winning drive. This dates back to Doug Flutie telling his defense to let them score so we can get the ball back and go for two to tie the game.

Herman showed sportsmanship, too.
You know, this is interesting. This guy is hard to figure. Sometimes I view him as an excellent sportsman....but there's things like Drew Lock moneybags, flipping the bird on NSD, etc. I believe he is generally a very good sportsman and has a lot going for him....he is just immature at times and it clouds it.

Did not see that one but did see Matt Campbell go up to Cameron Dicker after the missed FG ... all class
I saw that as well. Campbell wasn’t doing the quick pat on the back- he was genuinely showing concern. I saw that as well.

I know I’ll take crap here for this.
Based upon the fan base here, and I love UT, it is unwise to coach here.
Silver lining is you get a huge contract and when (not if) you are ran off you just banked.
See Mack- we were outraged when we couldn’t win at least 10 a year- lesson learned.

I guess it's all relative. One takes the Texas job because it pays well because it's in-the-spotlight, in-your-face difficult to handle the whole thing. Mack got his pee-pee slapped by Alabama and therefore tried to be Alabama without the personnel/experience/staff. Resulted in 5-7, and then we couldn't beat Baylor/TCU. After that, the preceding decade haunted the once-great used car salesman. Charlie was hired from Louisville where he benefited from Vince Young er sorry Teddy Bridgewater which made him look like more than a defensive coordinator. Plus Texas temporarily appeased BLM. 3 losing seasons later, even BLM couldn't help Charlie and Herman is hired. 3 bowl wins and winning seasons tempered by an injury-filled 2019 and covid and people are anxious for more. But that wasn't delivered so now Herman should be gone. Hire Urban, and Texas has that chance to skyrocket. Hire someone else, you should've just kept Akers/Mack/Herman.

Possibly. I felt like even had we kept Mack, we were going to decline from 2013 to 2014. We lost a fair amount of key guys, several of our 2013 wins were close calls and one was the result of a bad call, while our losses were all blowouts. And Mack's recruiting was suffering and he looked worn out.

He is doing pretty well again now, but he's also coaching at a place that'll be happy if he goes 8-5 over and over as long as he can pull of a 10-2 type season once per class, and he also looks very refreshed after taking 5 years off.
