Sportsbars within walking distance of DKR

well, the bar at the at&t center hotel on campus has a lot of tv's. i'm not sure if i know of any actual "sportsbars" near the stadium. schultz beer garden is also popular.

Scholz's. Although be prepared for an $8 -24oz beer. It's not the price, it's the 24oz can I'll never understand.

Sammy;

Scholtz's is a MUST if you haven't been there before. It will be crowded, loud, etc but you reaaly need to get there on a game day.

Agree on Scholtz's. Watched the 2008 Texas/OU game there and it was one of the best times I had watching a game in a sports bar.

One alternative on the north side is Posse East. I think the beer will be cheaper there.

Gawdammit people. Get it right.

It's SCHOLZ GARTEN, for god's sake - for the last 144 freakin' years. That's it.

Sorry, I'm cranky. Still can't get over Iowa State.

Posse East or Crown and Anchor. They're not right next to the stadium, just a couple blocks north on San Jacinto but both are cool bars to hang out at.

Sammy-- Those above are basically the closest ones to the stadium.

What is your goal? To watch some of the other games before Texas-Baylor? To soak in some of the UT gameday atmosphere? To drink cheap(er) beer?

Which one you decide on really depends on your goals.

Scholz and the Posse both have some TVs, but I don't remember if Crown and Anchor has a decent sports-watching setup. But, C&A has a good beer selection and a tasty jalapeno cheeseburger.

Does anyone know if DoubleDave's Pizza still over there north of the Posse? And if so, do they have any decent TVs these days?

Yes, Double Dave's has pretty good tv's. About 5 of them.

Also there is Dog & Duck at 17th & Guadalupe, but they may only have a couple of tvs.

Lots of tvs are at Uncly Billy's on Barton Springs but then again, that is not walking distance. But the #3 bus goes north from there and gets you close.

Posse East is greatness. Reasonably priced pitchers and a good beer selection. Underrated food, too. The sheriff sandwiches, cheeseburger, and Mexican plate are all good. Lots of TVs on game days.

That place got me through law school.

Yeah there's 8-10 TVs at the Double Dave's on Duval just north of San Jac & Dean Keaton. And the place is rarely too crowded as well.

The answer to your question does depend on how far "walking distance" is to you.

To me, Pluckers in west campus or Champions on 4th St are walking distance.
