Duke, I respect your opinion but I think you might view it differently if you were the one responsible for moderating this stuff every day. I have asked repeatedly for folks here to do this and it has not worked, and I don’t have time for subtlety any more.To me the punishment is over the top, particularly given these extraordinary times.

You are far too gracious. Thanks Dion.No worries gents. We needed better clarity on this.
This is it in a nutshell.Politics has always entered sports to a point, but it has reached the point at which it dominates and distracts from the sport, making the sport irrelevant and unenjoyable.
There's a new sheriff in town y'all !!

Right! Not just the players injecting it--the announcers (play by play and analysts), the performers of music, the sponsors and commercials, the banners in the stands, the issues of the actual team names, the backs of the jerseys etc etc etcI am also in favor of this position, cuz it's Dion's site and he can do what he wants. However, to be fair, IMO the "outbreak" of discussions of politics in sports is not being largely driven by people on here *wanting* to interject politics into sports, it's being largely driven by players wanting to interject politics into sports.
@Mr. Deez Thanks for the thoughtful response.
This is it in a nutshell.
I think for many of us, sports is entertainment, a fun diversion from the daily obligations of work, family, politics, etc. This may sound naïve but I think there is also a certain purity and innocence about a ball game we love, and some of us played in our youth. I just want to enjoy that without all the somber noise of politics at the margins, and I know others feel the same.
@dukesteer expressed his objection to the policy as being harsh, and I can’t disagree with him. It is not my intent to be a hard-*** but we need to draw a line somewhere. Anyway, I struggle with this and I expect my enforcement of the policy will be more forgiving than it sounds, but some of us just want our ball game back.

I have extended family members who cannot have a conversation on any topic whatsoever without turning it into a political rant. I love them but I avoid their company as much as possible because they are insufferable bores
What the hell's that supposed to mean?
