Wow! I'm tired after watching that.

I don't watch soccer often enough to know how well played a game that was.

But I've got to think that defending that many corner kicks is pretty amazing.

SUPER JOB LADIES! Brazil no doubt had the better team but we had the heart today. We needed that after our women's water polo and softball team goof ups. Way to go again Ladies!

Yeah, pretty painful...but I'm sure watching our US men's final
game will ease the pain. Oh, wait a minute, they couldn't even make it out of their group. And with skill players like Brazil, lots of times the smart play is to clear it out instead of playing around with it. We defended something like 16 corners, ran their asses off, were the more physical team, and hopefully, somewhere the idiot coach of the World Cup watched Hope Solo play insane goal.

Man after this game I feel the complete opposite of how I felt after the softball game. Way to go Ladies!

The USA played like booty in the second half and the commentating team never once made mention of it...Very annoying.

We played well in OT and I think deserved the win with how both teams played in OT.

Seeing the womens team play though makes me scared because I do not see even close to the creativity on our side that you see out of the Brazilians...especially Marta. I've always wondered if American coaches focus too much on fundamentals instead of allowing creativity in kids growing up and unfortunately I think it is true. But man....Marta...She is amazing...Closest thing to a guy out there.

Hopefully we will see more of this creativity under our new coach. According to the players she is the exact opposite of Gerg Ryan, whose idea of creativity was booming from the back and hoping Abby Wambach would get a piece of it. The last 3 coaches have put our program into reverse, and today, though we have a long way to go, I saw some actualy moves with ball at feet from some of our girls. I honestly can't remember the last time I have seen our players hold the ball, and make a move on a defender--and today I saw a few flickers of that. Our goal was started with a backheel pass and then a cut...not a head ball from Wambach on a set piece! Color me hopeful. Hopefull that under Pia that deprogramming of "kick it and get it into the mix" dies a quick death. Marta is from another planet man...she is such a talent. And for all the hell she caught, Hope Solo was right--it is time to briing on the youngsters and change our game. The end.
