I like this part from the architect:

Fisher declared that his tower will revolutionize the way skyscrapers are made -- a claim that might strike some as excessively bold.

Fisher acknowledges that he is not well known, has never built a skyscraper before and hasn't practiced architecture regularly in decades. But he insisted his lack of experience wouldn't stop him from completing the project, which has attracted top design talent, including Leslie E. Robertson, the structural engineer for the World Trade Center and the Shanghai World Financial Center.

"I did not design skyscrapers, but I feel ready to do so," Fisher said

This reminds me of a Motel 6 ad. No, but I did stay at a motel 6 last night...

Do you ever get the feeling that Dubai is building itself up for a huge fall? Maybe there is an unlimited source of money from oil, but boy are they building fast.

I am currently living in Doha, Qatar (neighbor of Dubai), and you would not believe the money flowing around here. Nothing here is old. The cranes are coming out og the ground like weeds. There are over 700 outstanding building permits for skyscrapers. If you have the money, you can do whatever you want

Other than skiing indoors, what else is there to do in Dubai than look at cool buildings?? What are all these millionaires who are supposedly going to be buying up these multi-million dollar condos going to do in Dubai?? I don't get it.
