I don't know if it's just me, but my spam mail to my yahoo acct has grown at least twenty fold in the last few weeks. I don't think I'm surfing more porn, or widely distributing my address more, but they're everywhere. Most of them aren't porn related anyway.

I used to try and do the unsubscribe, but I know sometimes it's a scam and now there are just too many. My computer crashed last week and I was off email for 3 days and I had like 200+ in my Bulk folder. Plus, more and more are slipping through into the regular Inbox, which is the most annoying thing about this.

Anyone else noticing this lately? Anything to do about it?

Unsubscribing usually gives the unethical ones a green light to flood you with more mail. Once you unsubscribe, they know your e-mail address is legit and they can send you more penile enlargement e-mails.

theres really nothin you can do about the spam you get on your yahoo acct.. just be glad that they don't count the bulk mail towards your storage limit. and yah like the poster said above, clicking on the unsubscribe link just tells them that you read their spam and are a valid target...

I know they do that, that's why I said in my first post that I know some are a scam. I haven't tried to unsub in a while, but these things are multiplying.

The thing that sucks is that every now and then, I'll get an Evite or something that will end up in Bulk and there are too many to sift through to check. Oh well.

I noticed the same thing about Yahoo. I think they intentionally let more in to prompt people to pay for a premium account that offers more spam protection.

I believe today they are going to begin giving everyone 100 megabytes. If that's the case, I'll have to close the old account because I'm not going to spend my time managing that much spam.

It would be nice if Yahoo did that to compete with GMail. It's become my primary acct since I don't have a real job anymore.

So what about us existing users? We get hosed? Is there a smart way to get a new one but have it identified as the old one to others and fwd the old one to it? Nerds, where are you?

Question asked, question answered.

Yahoo just updated on its own. I am now using 2% of my storage, instead of 62% (just cleaned out yesterday) with my 600+ messages.

Also, you can send 10 MB instead of 3.

I wonder if all the fools who bought GMail accounts on Ebay for $100 are pissed now.

Well, my friend just gave me a gmail account this morning. They still have some issues, like the fact that I couldn't log in all morning.

Also, they need to something to import my address book from Outlook. No way in hell I'm typing in another 200 contacts.
