Posted about this place a bit back, but must praise again.

If you are looking for an unpretentious alternative to Home Slice, please check out this place.

Pizaa is outstanding, but what has hooked me are the soups.

Today is Italian white bean with sausage, it is blowing my mind.

The sandwiches are outstanding, as are the salads and stromboli.

Great place and great folks that run the establishment.

Please check them out.

I'll certainly give it a try because I like trying new places and, because I have found that this board can be a good source of info on spots around town.

But I cant help but wonder however if you meant "less crowded" instead of "pretentious." I've been to Home Slice several dozen times and I cant think of a single thing that anyone could possibly consider to be pretenious about it. Its a pizza joint run by a local couple, who hit a home run on their first business venture by creating, from their own recipes, the best NY style pizza west of Manhattan. Nothing pretentious about it. Just good. It would be nice to have another solid place just around the corner to mix it up. I'll go by this week. Good homemade soup is always a favorite meal esp. when the weather starts to get cold.

Not meant to hold a candle to Homeslice, but a great place in it's own right.

Homeslice has good pie, but is a slight annoying at times with the whole SOCO ********.

Southside is a great little shop, check them out.

I'll admit, we dined in at southside and always carry out at homeslice. The folks were also friendly and helpful.
