South Park 3/19

I'm a big fan but I couldn't watch this one. The AIDS deal last week left a bad taste and the Britney suicide attempt was just too much for me. First time I ever changed the channel.

Have I become an old fart or has South Park finally crossed the line?

The AIDS episode and the Britney episode have something in common, but it's not that they crossed the line.

Like the previous poster, I thought it was interesting to see a different take on the Britney thing. I actually felt sorry for her for a little bit.

I think the problem with the past two episodes is that they start out in 5th gear and for some reason lose all their steam in the second half. The endings have been really weak. It was all downhill after Cartman injected Kyle. Same with after Britney blew her head off.

I don't think they crossed the line. I just think they aren't that good of episodes.

Yeah, I can agree with that. I could see, I think, what they were trying to do with the AIDS thing but it just never seemed to get there. I think I would have been OK with the suicide if they'd just left it at that and not had her survive with half a head. That to me was just being offensive for the sake of being offensive. I tried to stick with it long enough to see if there was a point to it, but I just couldn't watch that.

Haven't seen the Britney one yet, but I loved the AIDS episode. It lost a little steam in the second half, but there were a lot of laugh out loud moments throughout for me.

interesting. i turned it on after her head was gone. it turned into children of the corn after that. didn't laugh one time. don't think i was supposed to either.

I thought the aids episode was brilliant (but not as funny as usual). They were making fun of the fact that the disease has lost it's hipness to the way of cancer research. The Jimmy Buffet scene cracked me up. They also were right on by saying that after 20 years of research, the only way to cure it is to throw more money at it - since nobody else seems to have found a cure yet. I thought that was ok to watch. Haven't seen the new one yet.

it actually turned into "The Lottery" not "Children of the Corn."

And the half a head thing was gruesome and hard to watch, but it wasn't gross for the sake of gross, it was showing that no matter how low she sinks people are still going to hound/harass her and try to parade her back out.

I missed last week, but I agree that this one was hard to watch, not all that funny, but right on point in Matt and Trey's own unique, sardonic way.

Classic South Park, but I won't mind if I never see it again.
