SOUTH AMERICA QUESTION

Napolean, what is the best way to get from BA to Punta del Este, Uruguay? should we fly or is there a ferry that we could take?

I am not Nap but the ferry to Montevideo is about 2:30 hours in length and then the bus ride to Punta is about 1:30hrs from there. Aerolinas Argentina flys from the Aeroparque along the Rio.

Argentines & extraneros pay different amounts for flights. It's just the way it is.
If you are up for paying for the flight, it is much nicer to fly. The domestic airport (Newberry) makes the old Robert Mueller Airport look like DFW. I think that it literally has 9
gates.

I took a ferry to Colonia and then a 2 1/2 hour to 3 hour bus to Montevideo when I went to Montevideo in August. Flying won't be prohibitively expensive, but you might be looking at between US$200 to US$300 roundtrip. They get you because they can.

But you'll have a great opportunity to get laid by a latina in Sud America. It is like Spring Break for Adults.

suerte chico

Also, recent travel costs:

BsAs to Colonia, UR (and back) in May ~ Ar$85
-1 hr ferry (not the 3 hour one)

BsAs to Montevideo (and back) in August ~ Ar$250
-1 hr ferry to Colonia, then bus to Montevideo

BsAs to Puerto Iguazu, AR (and back) in October ~ US$225 (~Ar$700)
-1.5-2 hour flight from BsAs Newberry to Puerto Iguazu
-A holiday weekend (which means Monday is OFF), but leaving Friday & returning Sunday

Plus, a taxi/remis from the INTERNATIONAL airport (EZE) to town is anywhere from Ar$70-Ar$90 now. But a taxi to the domestic airport (Newberry) is more likely to be around Ar$15. And it takes about 10-20 minutes from practically anywhere.
