Sources: Kings to play in Seattle next season

I don't care if a team moves but this part is ridiculous
"The new Seattle owners will bring back the franchise's longtime Sonics name and colors."

The Sonics franchise has moved to OKC and changed names. Stick with "Kings" or come up with a new name. Dumb like the NFL's Cleveland Browns saying AAFC (1944–49) and NFL (1950 - 1995, 1999 - present).

The Seattle SuperSonics have a storied history and I have no problem with them reclaiming it.

It's not like OKC kept the Sonics name and colors when they moved from Seattle.

Same reason most don't do that - the team has left. See Houston Oilers/Texans and Dallas Chaparrals/Mavericks.

Actually, many will be doing it now as not doing so in the past turned out to be a bad thing. The majority of fans hated seeing the colors in another city or that an owner kept those rights, punishing the fans of the jilted city.

This part of the deal was agreed upon when the Sonics left. It left it so that if a team located (almost typo'd lactated) there they could keep the name, colors and logo.

Utah Jazz is stupid. The list goes on. But expect more owners to have to agree to keep the name and such in the original city in the future. I think it's a good thing.

I am curious how many Houston Texan fans would not mind them still being the Oilers even though jackass took the team to Tennessee. None of the players from the Oilers are still there so it would make it easier. The Oilers are the fans, not the owner.

Though Los Angeles doesn't have lakes like those around
Minneapolis, the Los Angeles Lakers has a nice ring to it.
I don't think the Los Angeles Smog would have that same
ring.

Interesting commentary, l00p, but I am interested to know what constitutes "in the past turned out to be a bad thing." As mentioned, Los Angeles Lakers doesn't make sense but no one can imagine them by any other name now. Occasionally, the name can make sense when moved (Houston Rockets or Detroit Pistons). I am rather traditional so I prefer the name to die (Oilers) or move (Jazz) rather than stay with the city. I bet you are right, though, that many will be doing it now. I suspect you can answer your last question on my behalf.

I am curious to know how many Utah Jazz fans hate the name.

LOL at "Los Angeles Smog."
