I'm just sitting here reading up on the SOTU address enjoying a fine brew (a Herrnbräu Tradition Bayerisches Festbier for those who are smart enough to know that my beer selection is more consequential than the SOTU address) and came across this comment.

This has become a tired old talking point. Even the Washington Post is acknowledging that the 77 cents on the dollar doesn't make sense.Fact-checking the equal pay statement

Wasn't Lilly Ledbetter supposed to address this talking point? Also I understand the White House does not pay equally amongst genders.

This issue sums up BO (and a lot of politicians). All talk, no action. He has SAID the same thing for 7 years but has proposed ZERO actions on the subject.

he is not politically stupid. he knows it is an issue he can rail about that his base will eat up and cheer on but he won't actually have to do anything about it. Pretty much his whole presidency in a nutshell. He is the exact opposite of a grinder. He is a whiner and lazy.

Good Points, Deez and Prodigal Horn. Too many times we get half the story and half the story is a lot more troublling and has more emotional impact than the full story.

I knew a bright female engineering student in college. She was making more than my teaching salary during her summer internships because the big oil companies were desperate to land a female after graduation. Being a minority in your field has its advantages. She was pretty and personable as well. Pretty much a unicorn in the world of engineering.
