What is up with that ****? I get notice that my e-mails have been rejected because I have been blacklisted by SORBS and they want me to pay them $50 to get un blacklisted? What kind of scam is this? I need to be able to e-mail some of these people.

Who is your ISP/what domain are you sending your mail from? It probably needs to be resolved on their end. The $50 fee to get delisted sounds like ******** to me, but I saw a few references to it when searching.

You might get some relief here.

The $50 fee goes to some Joey Nichols Legal Defense Funds or some ********. I have fussed at my host and asked them to deal with it. Sorbs says it probably means that my host also or has hosted spamm activity in the past or perhaps there was an overaggressive blacklister. The bottom line though is that they have effectively blocked my e-mail and they won't unbblock it unless I give them $50.

Good luck with it. You might want to contact whoever is on the receiving end using the blacklist and see if they have an alternate address that isn't blocking messages.

I wouldn't use a blacklist that extorted money to update the list. It's hard to believe they have a following. There's lots of other options that remove you once the problem is fixed or it's shown you're not enabling spam.
