Sooners D breaks Cincy QB's leg(?)

I didn't watch the OU-Cincinnati game (other than Sportscenter highlights), but apparently the Cincinnati QB left the game with a broken leg. A Cincy receiver indicated that OU's players did it intentionally...

It reminds me of the time that one of the Arkansas players twisted Vince's ankles after a tackle. It was on tv and was very clear that it was done on purpose yet the refs did nothing and neither did Arkansas. Not even an apology. Fortunately Vince wasn't hurt but the attemp was there. I wish somoene could have posted it to youtube.

the game was heated and there were almost several fights. there were a lot of personal fouls as well. number 60 on their team was a trash talking, trying to **** with everyone, kind of guy.

it doesn't surprise me our guys might have done that. i don't condone it really, but i know it happens, and this was that type of game for sure.

"it doesn't surprise me our guys might have done that."

That's pretty sad.
I would hope it would always surprise me to find our players doing anything like that.

Thats BS. Watch the replay. The kid just got caught in an akward postiion when being tackled. They asked the QB and he said there was nothing dirty.

But it was a very a chippy game. UC db's very talkative at the 1st of the game. Unfortunately, our players don't mind that kind of stuff. Many times I wish they would just walk away from the BS.

The Cincinnati receiver (who had been talking trash the whole game) is the only one spouting this stuff. The replay doesn't show any deliberate attempt to injure the QB.

In fact, Grutza said this of Bob Stoops: "He came out there when I was down and told me that I played a great game. He is a great guy and that shows a lot of class on his part."

The WR is talking out of his ***. Grutza got his leg bent up under a tackle and couldn't unplant his foot before it got rolled. A gruesome injury, to be sure, but not in any way deliberate. The only bad thing on that play was Cory Bennett kind of shoving Grutza's head into the turf. I don't believe Bennett knew of the injury at that point, though.

notreally, it kinds of sucks you'd make such a comment. I, too, would be disheartened and surprised if one of our guys really did try to injure an opponent. I realize stuff goes on inside the pile, but still.

I had about as good a view as you could get without being on the playing field itself. The injury itself was ugly but his leg was wadded up underneath him as he went down. I didn't see anyone do anything intentional to him.

The young man is damn sure a ball player and I hate like the dickens to see him (or anyone) get hurt. I wish him the very best and for a speedy recovery.

I don't follow Cincy Football enough to know if this is their normal attitude on the field or not. Saturday they had several guys that were just hell bent to start fights after the whistle blew. Maybe they thought since WVU blew OU out in the Fiesta Bowl and they had played them tough that they were going to Norman to walk away with an easy win. In any case I don't think I have ever witnessed so many personal fouls since the Steelers of the 70's.

uh... Randy Moss thought Tom Brady was cheapshotted too... funny how the receivers farthest away from the sacks can see all this stuff no one else does.

Man, is the whole city of Norman finally wired for internet? Never seen so many sooner posters in here at once.

I don't know if they intentionally broke the QB's leg or not, but I have no doubt that a scumbag like Auston English would.
