Sonics Draft...

I might be in the minority but I like what they did. Westbrook(if he develops) has the potential to be a franchise PG. Considering the leap he took from FR to SO year its not unlikely he develops as he obviously has tremendous work ethic, probably can't play for Howland if you don't.

Ibaka is an interesting talent. Has decent shot from the perimeter, is an amazing athlete so he should be able to come in and rebound/block shots whenever he comes over(I think most said 3 years).

DJ White is a good guy to bring off the bench for some rebounding and low post scoring, although the Sonics have that already in Wilcox/Collison I'm guessing they are going to try to move those guys.

Hardin is an athlete. Can defend and rebound, and is a legit center which is a need for the Sonics.

I would have liked for them to get a guy like CDR who could play the SG spot but they'll probably be in the lottery the next 3-4 years so they should have their pick of centers and shooting guards to choose from.

I'd say maybe a B+ probably a B.

I was really disappointed in their draft, especially the selection of Westbrook. I think he is a project, which I don't think you should draft with the 4th pick. The Sonics need some other scoring options, and Westbrook will not provide that. He is an awesome athlete, and he will help them defensively.

Then they pick a foreign center project for the third year in a row, I'm not impressed. It does not seem like they are even trying to become more competitive in the short term. I feel very sorry for Durant.

I was surprised by the Westbrook pick but it seemed like a lot of "experts" have him 4 or 5 on their draft boards. I'll use the wait and see approach.

The only "impact" player the Sonics could have brought in would have been Rose or Beasly. Seems their plan is to surround Durant with great defenders. They are still 1 more lottery pick away from being playoff contenders.

I like the selection of Westbrook. He's as good of an outside defender as anyone in the draft, and the Sonics need defense more than offense.
