Somewhere Over the Rainbow

if forced to choose between 'somewhere over the rainbow' or 'bridge over troubled water', i choose earplugs.

i don't know if the original rainbow song is worse, however, than the island-style version that Tiny Tim and others made popular (now overwhelmingly overplayed).

Are you saying Somewhere Over The Rainbow is better than The Way We Were? Man, I will fight you.

In the Wizard of Oz, probably not. Although I am rather fond of that song the munchkins sing while they're doing the makeover on that motley crew upon their arrival at Emerald City.

The version by the late Israel Kamimikakkakkawikaze (sp?) is the best version.

+1

Israel Kamakawiwo'ole.

It's actually a medley of Somewhere Over the Rainbow and What a Wonderful World. I don't care for Somewhere Over the Rainbow much, but that medley is haunting.

borna_horn, I had never before given much thought to the fact that I rarely listen to easy listening. But now I know why.

The Brother Iz version of Somewhere over the Rainbow is very good. I hear it regularly on "AM Coast to Coast".

BornaHorn please allow me to add Herb Alperts' "This Guy's In Love" to your easy listenin; list.

wow. i just listened to that Isreal guy sing the Somewhere over the rainbow/wonderful world combo. excellent.

You'll Never Know belongs on the list; another song by Harry Warren, who wrote several of the others.

It Might as well be Spring is nice too. Shirley Jones did a very good version.

Brother Iz was an interesting cat. Enormous body and beautiful voice and very short existence. The picture from iTunes is not him. Not the one on MY player anyway.
