Why does anybody for a second think a community organizer would be a good businessman? There is a reason the private sector doesn't invest in companies like Solyndra. BHO is just to dumb to understand he is just throwing away America's money when we are in tough economic times.

Obama just panders to the stupid and they eat it up.

To be fair, Alt-Energy subsidies have been a fool's errand for a huge number of Presidents. Let's not forget our first MBA president George W. Bush wasting Billions on Ethanol subsidies.

I wish we could attack the heart of this issue by getting the government out of the practice of fostering new energy markets as it is just inept in all matters in this department.

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

-- Ronald Reagan

A pretty clear explanation of why we just need the government to be smaller.

Throwing money at failing companies does not change that equation even a little bit.

Typical Democrat plan of good intentions but terrible follow through.

From what I read of the companies BO threw money at these companies weren't exactly poised for success.

Remember the biggest BO failure, so far, solyndra had been turned down by Bush and reccommended for further .
if BO didn't need to pay off cronies and further study had been done that 500 Billion might have been given to a company that actually could succeed.

I don't think there is anybody in any party that wants to just use Fossil Fuels.

Is that technology advanced and efficient, to a point.

Are there other technologies that may be better in the future, yes.

I think most politicians would say that a mixture of all of the above is the best solution for the United States.

As new technology matures and the price becomes more competitive it will make inroads. It is not the governments job to push one technology over another.
