"Executives from solar panel manufacturer Solyndra, which received over a half a billion dollars in loan guarantees from the Obama administration before filing for bankruptcy last week, are in negotations with the House Energy and Commerce Committee to openly testify before Congress next week, according to Rep. Cliff Stearns, R-Fla., the chairman of the panel's subcomittee on oversight and investigations.

The company's president and chief executive, Brian Harrison, and W.G. Stover, Jr., its chief financial officer, were asked to testify as part of tomorrow's committee hearing on the questionable loans, which have embroiled the Obama administration in what Stearns deemed a "full-blown scandal." The company's offices were raided by the FBI last week.

Stearns, speaking to bloggers at the Heritage Foundation, said the executives called the committee staff yesterday and asked whether they would be allowed to delay their testimony until next week. If they were granted the additional time, they said they'd agree not to exercise their Fifth Amendment right not to answer questions.The Link

In the letters sent to the House Energy and Commerce Committee's Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, attorneys for Solyndra CEO Brian Harrison and CFO W. G. Stover said they advised their clients not to provide testimony during the hearings.

Pleading the fifth before Congress... yeah, sure, there's nothing to see here, move along.

Living here in Virginia, not far from LightSquared's headquarters, I'm most interested in the fast track approvals that LightSquared seems to have gotten from the FCC before GPS makers and aviation groups realized what was happening and started screaming bloody murder.

Solyndra's application for loans were fraudulent. I don't know anyone defending Solyndra. Particular morons who hate Obama, are attempting to peg a dishonest application, which deserves the full punishment of the law, onto the POTUS, despite the fact that a 3rd party contractor, Ernst & Young, managed this process and failed in their duties. Secondly, once Solyndra's true financial position was discovered, said morons again want to peg this on Obama, as if it is his job to monitor- and not PWC or E&Y, and then spread the culpability of one corrupt CEO onto an entire sector and administration.

Here is an analogy. Person A lies on their mortgage application to Bank of America. They receive a home loan, and later default. So, morons here on the board want to blame the CEO of BofA, and disparage the entire home loan market.

Mcbrett I think you need to come clean and link this E&Y study you keep throwing around. The fact is that the DoE ignored a number of early warning signs and approved a loan that was clearly suspect. I'm not going to bother linking the same stories over and over again because you're not intersted in reading them or actually accepting anything that contradicts what you want to believe.

To call people "morons" at this point would be a mistake on your part, I think, especially given your performance on this subject.

Prod- as I told you before, you're the only one following this story who actually is reading and not blindly re-posting drudge links so you can say why you hate Obama. You're the only one here i'd discuss this with actually- but I get tired of linking to articles, and have already done so on other threads about this topic. What's the point when the same morons will repost a new link tomorrow with the same 'i hate obama' theme. That's not discussion worthy.
