Solution to Fans Storming the Field

This is a problem because it is different now than it was years ago. There is potential danger now to the players, coaches and even other fans. I have no problem with fans coming on the field after the teams (especially the visiting one) have time to get to the exit and leave the field.
The reponsibility should be up the the school to see that fans not get on the field until the announcer says it is ok. If they are unable to do so the penalty is so simple that one wonders why it hasn't been thought of. Look at the incident we had at Texas Tech and Penn State had at Iowa.
If an incident like that happens at Lubbock again then they forfeit the next home game in Lubbock to Austin. That is right. They would have to come to Austin for three years before they get a second chance. Same thing for Iowa and other schools. Also some high fines against gate receipts would be in order but I won't go there right now.
You can bet a lot of action would be taken if that solution were done and the fans would get the massage too

The solution is so simple that it will probably be considered ridiculous.

Someday a tragedy is going to occur and the shame is maybe it could have been avoided.

Even though I meant to post this On The Field it does apply to all sports. I have seen fans storm the basketball courts too.

I think you're on the right track, but how do non-conference games fit in? You may never play that team again.

Why not forfeit the gate receipts for that day's game? All tickets, parking, and concessions go to charity. It won't happen twice.

Good point and good idea SyracuseHorn fan. I would favor it. It is just on the conference games when teams play each other every year that home game loss would be an extra incentive.

It also punishes every other school in the conference, not just the offender. We get an extra home game. OU, Aggy, etc, would not. So maybe you get 2 warnings, and on the third strike you lose all your Big 12 South home games for a season.

I like your idea. In fact, what we should all do is go to every away game. I mean ALL of us. If we play Tech, for instance, we should all dress up in red and black or all dress like pirates. Then, regardless of whether Tech wins or loses, we should all storm the field. We should do it at every away game.

I agee something needs to be done, but I just read your post and felt compelled to be a pinhead.

yeah the thought crossed my head watching the game as well. If the away fans storm the field does the home team still get the penalty?
